Jacobs School of Music · B.S.
The Creation and Production major is one of two tracks within the Music Production program in Jacobs School of Music. The other track is Audio Engineering. The Creation and Production major is intended to provide an opportunity for students who want to pursue a degree in a modern method of music creation that will provide students with the education they need to create their own music and move it to a finished product ready for release.
Combining the skillsets of the modern songwriter and the modern producer, the Creation and Production track enables students to develop unique artistic identities and excel as critical creatives. This degree combines traditional and innovative modes of study to enable the individual to develop as a fully rounded music artist.
Cohorts will include composers, producers and performers from all genres, who work together in practical and research-based group sessions and receive specialized one-to-one instruction in an area of focus.
Applicants will submit a portfolio of recorded original music and at least one video demonstrating their creative process for one of the submitted examples. Admission is fall only.
