Terms of use
Last updated October 28, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and College Actually (“we”) when you use the site. By browsing or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who can use it
- Anyone can browse. You must be 13 or older to create an account.
- One account per person. Keep your password private. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- Some features, like Greek life and bar reviews and the culture survey, are only for students who verify with their school email. Only verify with an address that's yours.
Independent platform
College Actually is run independently. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any university. University names are used only to describe which school content is about.
Your content
- You own what you write. By posting it, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive license to display, store, adapt for display (for example, shortening it in a preview) and share it on the site and in search results. The license ends when you delete the content, except for copies already shared or in backups for a short time.
- You're responsible for what you post. It must be your own honest experience and follow the community guidelines.
- We can hide, remove or decline to publish content, and suspend or close accounts, that break the guidelines or these terms. Some reviews are checked by a moderator before they appear.
Things you can't do
- Post false reviews, review something you have a stake in, or coordinate campaigns to move a rating.
- Harass, threaten or identify private individuals, or post anyone's personal information.
- Use more than one account to get around limits, bans or the one-review-per-place rule.
- Scrape the site, use bots to post, or try to break into accounts or the site's systems.
- Pretend to be someone else, or to be a verified student when you aren't.
Reviews are opinions
Reviews and ratings reflect the views of individual students, not College Actually. Rankings are calculated from those reviews, as explained on our methodology page. Listings and facts may be out of date, so check important details, like prices and hours, with the source. Anything marked Demo is sample data for testing, not a real review.
Reporting a problem
Use the Report button on any review that breaks the guidelines. If you believe content is false and harmful about you or your business, infringes your copyright, or should otherwise come down, email collegeactuallysupport@gmail.com with a link to it and an explanation. We review every request and may remove content, but we don't remove honest reviews just because they're negative.
Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page, or by emailing collegeactuallysupport@gmail.com. Our privacy policy explains what's deleted. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and you can email us if you think we got it wrong.
No warranty
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without guarantees that it's accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free. Decisions you make about schools, housing, places or anything else are your own.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, College Actually isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content posted by other users. Our total liability for any claim about the site is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Indiana. Before filing anything, please email us so we can try to sort it out.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and for important changes we'll tell signed-in users on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
