In order to examine societal norms, regulations, and laws, the reasons why they are broken, as well as the social and legal responses to these violations, the major in criminal justice integrates the social sciences, legal studies, and the humanities. Organizational, social, and cultural processes are investigated and evaluated in relation to systems of regulation, such as the criminal justice system and dispute resolution procedures. This major is great for students interested in studying justice-related topics, such as law.
The Criminology and Criminal Justice major has no official tracks or concentrations. This gives you the flexibility to study those topics within the field that best aligns with your academic and career interests. However, while selecting courses for the major, you may wish to craft an unofficial concentration. Many possibilities for specialization exist. Some examples include:
Criminal Justice and the Law
Gender, Race, and Crime
