A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health will help students learn more about how both natural and built environments affect human health. This program provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to understand and prevent harmful effects from pollutants in the environment—whether chemicals or infectious agents.
Students will study five core areas essential to public health professionals:
Environmental Health
Epidemiology
Biostatistics
Public Health Administration
Community Health
Additionally, students will have the opportunity to take specialized courses in topics such as toxicology, environmental sampling, environmental management and policy, and occupational safety. Through a senior capstone project, students also cultivate critical skills in written and oral communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. They gain additional practical experience through a formal, for-credit internship program.
If you are interested in the Environmental Health major, take IUB’s Chemistry Placement Exam (CPE) online. The results of the CPE will determine your placement level for your first IUB chemistry course. For more details on the CPE, contact the Department of Chemistry at (812) 855-2700.
