The Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture, & Design offers a Bachelor of Art degree in Studio Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art.
With the Studio Art Bachelor of Art (B.A.) degree, students gain a broad set of skills while pursuing intellectual discovery in the arts. Students can choose to focus on one of nine studio areas:
Ceramics
Digital Art
Fibers
Graphic Design
Metals + Jewelry
Painting
Photography
Printmaking
Sculpture
Or students can also choose to study a wide range of these artistic disciplines (declaring a particular focus is not required). No portfolio is required for admission to the studio art B.A. degree. Instead, students are given the space to develop their technical skills and broaden their theoretical and historical knowledge to reach their full creative potential while completing their coursework.
All Studio Art B.A. students take the same five creative core courses as a foundation and can explore upper-level courses of interest. Overall, the program is designed to help students see, formulate, and articulate visual concepts through the manipulation of forms, materials, and ideas. Its basic aim is to develop awareness of visual expression within the humanist tradition.
The Studio Art Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree is an opportunity program for current Studio Art B.A. students (typically in their second year) who want to gain skills needed for a career in the arts. The program is competitive, and applicants are subject to a portfolio review and interview. It is meant for exceptional students, who once admitted, will have access to individual workspace, mentorship from world-class faculty, and intimate class sizes.
