A Bachelor of Science in the Secondary Education Anchor Program (Language Arts/English Grades 5-12) prepares you for one Indiana teaching license that covers both junior high/middle school and high school.
Passionate and engaged Language Arts/English educators do more than introduce their students to literature. These educators help students transform into critical observers and analyzers who find new modes of expression and meaning in the world around them.
Language Arts/English Education is a subcategory of Secondary Education, which requires students to take courses that help develop instructional techniques and build a foundation in literature and writing. Students in this major take literature classes in all the major time periods from the 16th Century to the present, young adult literature, language education issues for English teachers, grammar, literary interpretation, and writing. These students will also receive a strong grounding in education theory, instructional methodologies, and content area coursework to aid them in creating a safe and expressive environment for their future students.
